In a groundbreaking move set to redefine urban mobility, Indian Railways has joined hands with Indofast Energy, India’s leading battery-swapping solutions provider and 50-50 joint venture between energy giant Indian Oil and sustainable mobility innovators SUN Mobility, to roll out a network of cutting-edge battery swapping stations at key railway hubs across Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions.
Under this partnership, 80 swap stations have been powered across 25 railway stations (56 swap stations under the Secunderabad division and 24 swap stations under Hyderabad division), while an additional 40 stations have been planned to be deployed in the next 3 months, giving a significant boost to the Government of India’s clean energy mission and to create a robust and sustainable energy infrastructure that supports the transition to electric mobility. From the commuters' and business point of view, these swap stations aim to supercharge their daily lives and pave the way for a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
Spearheading this visionary initiative is South-Central Railway, with anticipation building for other divisions to join the electric wave. Indofast Energy will be the driving force behind establishing and operating these strategically located stations. Indofast Energy is on a mission to deploy over 10,000 swap stations across more than 40 cities within the next three years, aiming to empower over a million EV users with lightning-fast battery swaps.
